FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

Q: Once grown how do we transfer the plant to the ground?

A: Just remove the cup tray from the bottom tray. Give each cup a gentle squeeze to loosen the root ball and soil. Gently invert the tray while supporting the seedlings until you can gently remove them from their cups.

Q: Do I leave the seed trays sitting in water the entire time or only add water when soil needs it?

A: Base tray is a tight fit. It's basically just for catching residual water. Domes fit nice. No need for extra water, just moistening for seed germination.

Q: I am new to this. do you put peat pellets in each new seedling start or just soil? what is best to do?

A: You can use any grow medium you prefer however if you are new to gardening you probably will be best served using a commercial seed starting mix rather than make your own until you educate yourself on best practices.. On the other hand...if you wish to make you own seed stater mix, any sterile fine soil, peat moss, spagnum moss, compost will work as long as it is a light non-compacting medium. Q: Can this be used outdoors in southern california?

A: Sure. I will not matter what state you are using it in. It will be fine for indoor starting.

Q: Can you use tray to water from below?

A: Yes, you can. In some instances this might even be preferable (concerns about damping off fungus, or very delicate or small seeds that you are worried about disturbing unduly). Just check the tray a bit later to ensure that you haven’t added too much water.

Q: This is my first time using this. Do I keep the vent closed all the way or partially open?

A: I keep mine closed until they sprout, then open the vents to increase air flow. I take the dome off altogether when about 50% have sprouted, have cotyledons, and are reaching for the sky. It really depends on how moist your soil is. If it’s very wet, open it up. If its dry, close it. You do not want the baby seedlings to mildew.. Experiment. Check daily for droplets on the lid. Open or close as you think best. You can figure it out.
